Our family purchased land in Wanaka with the objective of building a dream holiday home. A minor hurdle however, we resided in Australia and the house was to be built in New Zealand.

When the [house] plans were finalised our Architect suggested we meet with one particular builder, Nevin Gibb, whose infectious personality, enthusiasm and high standard of professionalism would be the perfect fit for us and our situation…living in another country - how right he was!

  • At all stages of construction we had the upmost confidence in Nevin’s professionalism. Every time we visited the site we were excited and delighted with the progress. It didn’t take us long to realise many of the best people in the Wanaka region were working on the house with the same pride and enthusiasm as Nevin.     For the majority of the time we were in Australia, so Nevin kept us informed of progress every week by emailing photos. Nevin was always open to our comments and would offer suggestions if he felt changes would improve the functionality and living environment of the house. Any changes made during construction were discussed in detail, quoted and then approved by us so we were always aware where we stood financially.

Gibb Building was engaged to build our home in 2012. We were absentee clients, but Nevin made every effort to ensure we were always aware of how the build was progressing and we felt we were fully informed at each step, including regular financial updates. We found Nevin to be a highly competent builder and project manager.

He organised meetings with subcontractors, ensuring we were getting exactly what we wanted. He has an understanding of the regulations and obligations of both resource and building consents and maintained a tidy work site in keeping with current health and safety regulations. Neighbours commented on their efforts to minimise any disruption. When we visited the site Nevin was always available to meet with us and his team of builders and subcontractors were always friendly and welcoming. After we had moved in to our new home, Nevin continued to work to ensure that any issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently, until we were completely satisfied with our new home.

Gibb Building Wanaka Ltd built and project managed our 450m2 family home, this was a thoroughly satisfactory and enjoyable process. The project was completed on time and within budget. Nevin’s attention to detail, quality workmanship, organisation ability was outstanding, as was the communication with the sub-contractors and us.

Two years ago a rental property was built for us by GBWL, this was a 4 bedroom/ 2 bathroom home, which Nevin project managed with very little input from us, and once again this was a hassle free process, completed on time within budget.
